Weather-stripping, window and door seals and refrigerator gaskets are familiar examples of extruded products.  In the extrusion process, uncured rubber strands are fed into an extruding machine.  The flutes or blades of a large revolving screw mix and carry the rubber forward through a custom die which gives it specified dimensions and shape.  It then moves onto a conveyor and through a hot air tunnel or salt bath where the rubber is vulcanized under heat and pressure.  The extruded rubber is then cut to desired lengths.
