Our rubber extrusions are most commonly used in the architectural industry as environmental barriers, to fill voids between two surfaces, and to ensure a proper fit. Architects and building engineers must choose the right materials to ensure lasting structural integrity. Our engineers can work with you to select the right materials in regards to your specific project. Contact us today to let us know what you need for your project!

Applications in Architecture

Our rubber extrusions play a vital role in the structural integrity of buildings and other structures. They are commonly used in architectural facades and fenestration systems to provide environmental barriers, vibration reduction, or additional support.

  • Air and water barriers for windows and doors
  • Glazing system profiles used to seat and seal architectural facades and fenestration systems
  • Setting blocks

Extruded Rubber Glazing Systems

Extruded rubber glazing systems from ELBEX are molds used to set materials, create environmental barriers, reduce vibration or fill voids between two surfaces. These gaskets act as seals designed to keep air, water, and sound from leaking in or out of the applied static areas. In the case of windows, the rubber glazing systems wrap the glass, molding to the surface to create an extra tight seal between two areas.

Extruded rubber glazing systems from ELBEX offer maximum performance and reliability.

Extruded Rubber Glazing Systems Applications

At ELBEX, we can create a custom glazing system to meet your unique application needs. We have extensive experience serving the following industries and more!

  • Architectural - The most common application for rubber glazing systems in the architecture industry are for creating weather stripping insulation. With this use case there are many different types of gaskets that can be produced, depending on whether windows or doors are on the interior or exterior of the building. For either application, it is important to note what kind of ratings are needed for fire, sound, water, air, etc. These glazing systems can be applied across commercial or residential buildings, providing environmental barriers and a proper fit for doors and windows.
  • Indoor Agriculture - It’s imperative that growers keep plants and crops free of contaminants. Rubber glazing systems installed within indoor grow facilities means having an air-tight barrier between the grow rooms and the rest of the facility. These systems should be applied to seal any doors and windows surrounding any rooms containing plants, keeping them free of pests and particulates.
  • Automotive - ELBEX extruded rubber glazing systems are an ideal fit for production of spare tire no-rattle pads, hinge covers, acoustic covers, gaskets, and more. They are also great for securing windows to cars, as our systems are manufactured to withstand the elements of mother nature.
  • Marine - Rubber glazing systems for this industry are a vital part of extending the life of boats, as these gaskets can protect against serious leaks and flooding.

Please contact us to discuss your specific application needs.

Extruded Rubber Gaskets and Seals

Gaskets and seals are very general terms for any type of profile that is intended to fill a gap or void and create a barrier.

Both gaskets and seals are commonly used for:

  • Water resistance
  • Air barriers
  • Tight seals
  • Vibration elimination
  • Securing components

Gaskets and seals are often lumped together into the same category because they both provide a strong sealing force, but their functions are slightly different. Seals are used to connect and seal two moving parts, while gaskets are commonly used as static seals between two flat surfaces set in place. Materials used for either product vary, but are often dictated by the specific application and corresponding environmental and chemical exposure.

Extruded rubber gaskets and seals from ELBEX provide superior stability and protection compared to other types of expansion joints because of our team that’s dedicated to quality through the entire extrusion manufacturing process.

Applications of Gaskets and Seals

Extruded rubber gaskets and seals are most commonly used in the following industries:

  • Automotive - Extruded rubber seals are commonly used between engine parts, pumps, and shafts that rotate while gaskets are used as static seals between two flat surfaces that do not move.
  • Plumbing - Rubber gaskets are often used in piping and plumbing applications to provide a strong, lasting, water-tight seal between two pipes.
  • Water Control - Similar to piping and plumbing applications but on a much larger scale, our gaskets and seals are common solutions in water control applications to provide water-tight seals.

Because of the versatility of our extruded rubber profiles, they can be used as a viable sealing solution in so many different industries and applications. Our design and engineering team can assist you in finding the right extrusion to meet your needs.

Bulb Seals for Maximum Sealing Power

Bulb Seals are designed to track into a channel and fill a void or gap, creating a seal. They consist of a mounting mechanism and a bulb section that does the actual sealing.

Depending on the intended application and surrounding conditions, many different materials can be used. But no matter the material, our manufacturing processes yield a strong, durable bulb seal that stays in place and delivers reliable sealing power.

Bulb Seal Applications

Bulb seals are most commonly used around doors, windows, and hatches to provide sealing and insulation. This gives them their alternate name, “trim seals.” They are also sometimes used in industrial mixing and processing applications in which water, dust, or extreme heat need to be sealed off and contained to a specific area or vessel.

  • Automotive - Vehicles are exposed to the elements, and bulb seals can be used to seal off key components to protect the interior.
  • Residential - Bulb seals are often used as weatherstripping around doors and windows.
  • Process Industries - The pharmaceutical and food processing industries often use bulb seals to seal the doors and hatches of industrial mixing and drying equipment.

Please contact us to discuss your specific application needs.
